I just arrived home from one of the most amazing trips last night and I have been dying to share all of my inspiration with you …
Costa Rica my friend. Livin’ la Pura Vida!
So instead of posting a raw juice today, I decided to show you how I stayed hydrated naturally from Mother Earth, as I did on my vacation. I can’t wait to show you all of things that inspired me while I was away, but I will start with this!!
PURA VIDA: Coconut Water & Minneola Orange
In this case it is a SaucyPants drink, but in Costa Rica, it has be used both as a greeting or a farewell since 1956. Pura Vida literally means Pura = pure and vida = life, but “Pure life” in Spanish would be “Vida pura” instead, so the real meaning is closer to “plenty of life”, “full of life”, “this is living!”, “going great”, “real living”, “Awesome!” or “cool!”
Pura Vida Ingredients:
1 Young Coconut (pipa in Costa Rica)
1 Minneola Orange (we used a Mandarin Lime in Costa Rica)
Start by chopping off the top of the coconut until you reach the hole. Be careful as this can be difficult. In Costa Rica, Aquiles (the jungle man you will hear about later) chopped off the top with a machete. Since you may or may not have a machete lying around, I recommend buying a tool or holding the coconut over the edge of the sink while you chop… Watch you fingers please!
Grab a citrus fruit of your choice and add it to the coconut water. I used about half of a minneola orange and left the coconut water in the coconut.
If you have any cute straws, I recommend serving to guests as is (in coconut) with straw in the hole. If not, keep it gangster and drink up straight from the nut!
Here’s how it all went down in the jungle …
AQUILES (the jungle man who lives in the wild with no electricity, but happens to be on facebook)
Every hike must end in at a beautiful beach …
and with more coconut water!
Keep it wild.
And live the pure life my friend.
